Press Release
Secure Data Transfer Systems
As one of the first companies due to go live with the new SDT system we have been asked to give an account of what's happening and how things are going. Well we had a bit of a delay to get the URL for the website to allow us to apply for the test certificate, Pete was trying his best to get it to me before I went on holiday for a week. We got the URL on the Thursday and soon found we had an issue as our database will only request certificates via a web service and not allow us to apply for a test certificate and manually send it via the Symantec website. Nigel from CGI got on the case and asked the question if Symantec had web service system available. I spoke to our database support company to see if we could do it manually. I eventually got the answer to both questions on the Monday morning which was no to both! We had also sent over a test file to Pete which did not pass the initial verification. This was because the SDT system requires a format where the namespaces and prefixes are declared only at the root envelope level rather than throughout the body of the xml - this is not in the CID. Lucky I was holidaying in Wales so took myself off to Wetherspoon (good Wi-Fi and breakfast) on the Tuesday morning and got working on the certificate and also briefed our programmers on what they had to do. The certificate was an easy process using windows certification store and has been applied to our certificate store without any issues. We also found that .net also gave an incompatible xml file however this can be manipulated into the correct format and we hope to send some tests to the SDT test server this week. Handy little program called SOAPIU which was passed on by Marc helped. We were able to test the certificate and also test getting a connection to the SDT test server.
