The Civil Court Users Association exists to represent the interests of organisations that use the Civil Courts in England and Wales. The Association serves its members by lobbying the Ministry of Justice and Her Majesty's Courts Service on litigation matters relevant to the creditor sector and is focussed on improving the service provided by the courts for court users.
The Association was launched on 3 February 1988 and was originally known as the County Court Users Association. On 1 September 1995, in light of the Interim Woolf Report on Access to Justice, the Association changed its name to the Civil Court Users Association to enable the Association to continue to represent the interests of its members concerning both the High Court and County Courts.
The CCUA has its administrative office in Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire.

The Association is run by a National Council consisting of the following officers: President, Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary, Treasurer. In addition there are four Regional Chairs, a Legal and Technical Chair and a Membership Services Manager. The officers of the Association are elected from the Association membership and they bring with them a wealth of experience and knowledge from the legal profession and credit industry.
The members of the Association are organisations and individuals that use, or have an interest in the operation of, the Civil Courts in England and Wales. The members represent a wide spectrum of Court Users from the legal profession, credit industry and ancillary businesses. Between them, the members of the Association are responsible for the issue of more than 85% of all civil proceedings for the recovery of debts.
The Civil Court Users Association aims to create a common approach amongst litigants to seek rectification of common problems in using the court service, with the ultimate aim to achieve consistency across all courts, and at the level of the highest performer. The CCUA acts as a focal point for communication between its members, the Ministry of Justice and Her Majesty’s Court Service. Regular regional meetings allow the members to raise and discuss issues which are fed back to the National Council which in turn holds regular liaison meetings with the Court Service. Prominent members of the Association also provide representation in other industry groups such as the CSA, and the Civil Justice Council etc. The CCUA runs an annual conference which, as the highlight of the Association’s year, provides a forum for all parties to network and exchange information.

Yes, you can! Our membership categories are not dependant upon how many proceedings are issued. We appreciate that there are organisations or individuals with an interest in the operation of the Civil Courts, or businesses which are ancillary to the legal profession or credit industry who may benefit from membership.
